Chalmers Road SSP School and NSW Education appointed LandFX as the Landscape Architects to create and design the central play space for kids with various disabilities. LandFX spent time analysing the behavioural patterns, likes and dislikes of the students  and how they interact with both play and each other. The design intent was to provide a familiarity for the students to allow their natural movements through the site to be retained while carefully locating various forms of play equipment throughout to help stimulate their senses and in other times calm their senses. It was important to separate the passive play from the active play to allow some students to express themselves without interfering with the  reserved students that need their space and quiet time.
The design consists of a natural loop path for their tricycles, built in concrete, sandstone blocks and timber slat seating, multiple picnic settings, hardy and durable planting, raised veg garden for wheelchair access and various types of play equipment providing a sense of movement, noise and colour for kids to choose and play with.
