Landfx were engaged to deliver the landscape design for Terrey Hills Public School, transforming the school’s outdoor areas into a diverse, engaging and nature-focused environment for students aged 5–12.
The landscape was centred around the concept of ‘wild play’, creating opportunities for exploration, imagination and active play within a distinctly natural setting.
Key elements included a dry creek bed, timber bridges, a large all ages sandpit, new shade structures, sandstone seating logs and a combination of natural and synthetic turf.
Circulation throughout the site was also refined to improve connectivity, movement and accessibility between key school spaces.
material strategy
A robust and natural material palette of sandstone logs, boulders and stone, decomposed granite, spotted gum timber and Corten steel edging reinforces the landscape character and provides a tactile connection to the surrounding environment.
Predominantly native planting complements the existing landscape vernacular of Terrey Hills, creating an outdoor environment that feels embedded within its bushland setting while providing a resilient, playful and enriching landscape for everyday learning and recreation
