THE BATHERS COLLAROY

PROJECT INFO

LOCATION | COLLAROY , SYDNEY NSW

SECTOR | MEDIUM DENSITY RESIDENTIAL

INDIGENOUS NATION | DHARUG, GADIGAL

Positioned moments from Collaroy Beach, The Bathers is a collection of 34 luxury residences shaped by its unique Northern Beaches setting.

Designed by Sym Studio and Documented by Landfx, this refined coastal landscape reflects and complements the architecture while drawing inspiration from the colours, textures and relaxed character of the surrounding coastline. Layered coastal planting, natural materials and carefully considered outdoor spaces create a strong connection between the development and its beachside context.

The landscape extends across the ground plane and communal areas, culminating in an elevated rooftop retreat designed to take advantage of the development’s coastal outlook. Generous planting, integrated seating and recreational spaces create a relaxed resort-style environment for residents to gather, unwind and enjoy the landscape.

A resilient coastal planting palette provides year round texture and seasonal interest while responding to the site's exposed conditions.

The result is a contemporary Australian coastal landscape that feels relaxed, sophisticated and distinctly connected to Collaroy.

MATERIAL & PLANTING STRATEGY

The landscape material and planting palette draws inspiration from Collaroy’s coastal setting, combining natural textures, warm tones and resilient planting to create a relaxed yet refined landscape character.

Natural sandstone cladding and granite paving establish a strong connection to the coastal geology, complemented by bronze detailing and the lighter tones of the architecture.

The planting palette reinforces this coastal identity through a combination of Livistona palms, sculptural feature planting and layered native and coastal species. Selected for their ability to withstand exposed coastal conditions, the planting provides texture, movement and year-round greenery while creating a distinctly Northern Beaches landscape character.
