The Wentworth Point Pop-Up Town Square delivers a vibrant temporary community space designed to bring together play, recreation and social connection within the heart of Wentworth Point.
The approximately 3,000m² landscape incorporates a full-size basketball court, flexible multi-use sports fields, children’s playground, swings, shaded seating and generous social spaces. A simple, robust landscape palette creates a welcoming environment capable of supporting both everyday recreation and larger community gatherings.
Designed in collaboration with Billbergia and the City of Parramatta, the project demonstrates how underutilised urban land can be transformed into a highly activated public space, providing valuable outdoor amenity for the growing Wentworth Point community.
ADAPTIVE RE-USE DESIGN
The Wentworth Point Pop-Up Town Square transforms approximately 3,000m² of underutilised land into a vibrant temporary destination for play, sport and community connection.
Responding to the transitional nature of the site, the landscape was designed around principles of adaptability, reuse and minimal intervention. Modular and relocatable elements, including planters, seating and play components, allow the space to evolve over time, while the adaptive reuse of existing materials and infrastructure reduces waste and extends the life of site resources.
A full size basketball court, flexible multiuse sports fields, playground, swings and shaded social spaces provide immediate community amenity while maintaining flexibility for the site’s future development.
The project demonstrates how temporary landscapes can deliver lasting social value, turning an interim urban space into an active and welcoming place for the Wentworth Point community.
